Step by step

Installation

The installer is not signed with a paid certificate, so your browser and all three systems show a security warning. Below is exactly what to do when it appears.

  1. Your browser may say the file “isn’t commonly downloaded” or “could harm your device”. Open the downloads list, pick the file and choose Keep (Edge: ⋯ → Keep → Show more → Keep anyway).
  2. Double-click RemoteFrames.exe. Windows may show “Windows protected your PC”. That is expected for an app without a paid code-signing certificate; it does not mean anything is wrong with the file.
  3. Click the small More info link, then press the Run anyway button that shows up.
  4. There is no wizard: it installs in a few seconds for your user only, without an administrator password, and opens by itself.
  5. Later you can start it from the Start menu or the RemoteFrames shortcut on your desktop.

Some antivirus tools quarantine unsigned installers. If the file disappears, add it to your antivirus allow list and run it again.

After installing
  1. The RemoteFrames window shows a 6-digit connection code. It stays the same on this computer.
  2. Enter that code in Connect with code on this page or in the RemoteFrames app on your phone. The computer asks for approval when someone connects; computers saved to My devices (Premium) connect without asking.
  3. Closing the window does not stop it: it keeps running in the system tray. Use the tray icon to show it again or quit.
